Artist Statement

This painting is one of a series of abstract paintings that I did based on interpretations of classical symphonic music. While listening to this music being performed, various images would come to my mind. These images consisted of swirling, undulating shapes and lines, with vibrant colors representing different instruments and\or ideas in the music.

The serpentine shape represents the stringed instruments and the movement of their melodies. The iridescent gold, sunshine shapes represent the sparkle of the brass instruments. The yellow, amoeba-like shapes describe the movements of the piano – soft, pliable, organic sounds that are separate yet part of the whole.
