Artist Statement

These birches are near the beach of what used to be my Grandma’s lake cabin at Laurier Lake. The sight and location of the birches bring back many fond childhood memories of summers spent at this lake. The birches themselves seem to have quiet, peaceful personalities, as if they are content to just sit quietly and look out over the lake, regardless of any hubbub that may be going on behind them.

This painting was done as one of a set of two, the other painting being ‘Laurier Lake Birches #2.’
