This painting is from my Highway 16 series. The mountain range is one that I frequently see on this highway when I travel to visit family in Alberta. Although images of the Rocky Mountains are considered to be iconic images of Canada, I have brought a deeper level of interpretation to this painting. Through the use of composition, lighting, and color, I am portraying an emotional journey of hope. The dark, cold shadows of the foreground with a suggested pathway seem to indicate a difficult journey, while the beautiful, sunlit mountain brings the promise and hope of better things to come.
