These little wood violet flowers pop up in my neighbour’s yard every spring, sometimes growing in the grass and sometimes growing in other places. This hardy little violet poked its’ head through a bunch of dead maple leaves. I had to shove my camera through the slats of the fence to get a good picture of it! Now it is preserved on canvas as a symbol of spring, and of better things to come.
